Kings Ministry Teams

“Come Learn and Serve with Us!”

In response to the growing needs of our dynamic congregational life, in 2007 we started nine new Ministry Teams as a way of activating more people in Christ’s service. Every team spends the first of half of its gathering as a small group community with Bible Study, spiritual nurturing and friendship building. The second half of each meeting is directed towards the team’s specific area of ministry. Check out our nine teams. Which one might be “a fit” for you? Contact the team leader — Come learn and serve with us!

Who We Are and What We Do

Education & Discipleship: We are responsible for planning and giving direction to all of our Christian Education programs. Our role is to inspire an energetic atmosphere of learning that keeps Christian Faith growing & dynamic in people of all ages in our congregation, as we learn what it means to be disciples/followers of Jesus Christ. We do that by offering support to the Sunday School, Nursery and VBS and small group studies. Contact: Evelyn MacDonald

Finance: We are stewards of the congregation’s financial resources. Using the congregational budget as our guide, we aim to keep the various ministries of Kings Church adequately funded, reporting on all income and disbursement of congregational funds. In 2008, with the completion of our Canada Ministries grant, we have concentrated on our move to full financial self-support as a congregation as well as purchase of the manse. Contact: Barry MacDonald

Ministry Opportunities: Our aim is matching people’s spiritual gifts with ministries within Kings Church. We are here to assist people to discern and cultivate their spiritual gifts and to find a way of offering those gifts in ministry. Team Leader: Esther Kalkman

Pastoral Care: Our mandate is the congregational ministry of loving and caring for members during times of need. We are committed to confidentiality and provide pastoral care to those who are confined to their homes, recently bereaved or have other needs that are identified by the team. This year we provided meals to Kings folk who were ill, recuperating following surgery and to families welcoming new babies. Transportation is provided to those needing a drive to worship, the hospital & appointments. Team Leader: Geneve Newcombe

Outreach: Our team is interested in reaching out beyond the walls of our church building through personal and social interaction and evangelism. Members are willing to meet with people in their environment. Annual projects that Outreach is involved in are the Foodgrains Pumpkin Project and Christmas Hamper program. Kings participates in the Inn From the Cold project. On Friday nights, Kings opens its doors to welcome homeless people, offering them a hot meal and a warm, safe place to sleep. Team Leaders: Mary Cunningham & Andrew Hartlen

Personnel: We deal with matters relating to creating a healthy and holy environment here at Kings, especially for those persons employed by the church, as well as the minister. Recently we worked on the implementation and maintenance of Leading With Care—a policy for ensuring a climate of safety for children, youth and vulnerable adults here at Kings. Team Leader:

Property & Maintenance: We are stewards of our congregation’s property & buildings, their maintenance, repair and upkeep. Team Leaders: Don MacDonald & Jack MacDonald

Stewardship Team: Our group works to promote and cultivate a strong sense of Christian stewardship and our profound giftedness among all members of the congregation. Our main focus is our annual Mission Festival which focuses on God’s good gifts to us and how we are called to use those gifts in service to God and others. Team Leader:

Worship Team: Worship is the center of our life in Jesus Christ. It is the life-blood of the Christian life as we meet God in spirit through Word & Sacrament each Sunday morning and then go out into the world to practice that worship in everyday life. This team works in partnership with our minister to enrich the worship life of Kings Church. Team Leader: Rev. Tim Archibald
